That's what made RB Leipzig's equalizer minutes after the restart all the more surprising. Jack Grealish's poor pass allowed the hosts to break, with Openda holding off a defender before firing home what was the German's first shot on target.
City began to step things up as the half progressed and very nearly took the lead through Foden, only for his freekick to come back off the crossbar, while Erling Haaland's strike was held by Janis Blaswich.
Guardiola introduced Alvarez in place of Foden in the closing stages and the move proved to be a stroke of genius. Doku teed up the Argentine from the edge of the area, and he made no mistake in unleashing a sensational chip into the far corner.
Any hopes of an RB Leipzig equalizer were put to bed by Doku, who collected Alvarez's ball to calmly finish and secure all three points for the Premier League giants.
